It is smaller than Municipal Corporation and bigger than Nagar Panchayat. If any area has a population of more than 20 thousand, then it comes under municipality. But to become a Municipal Corporation, its population should be between 1-5 lakh or more. The head of the municipality is called Municipal Chairman. He is directly elected by the public. He is the administrative head.

What is Nagar Panchayat

Nagar Panchayat is an administrative structure which is bigger than a village, but not up to the status of a city. Has reached. Like a tehsil or a big town. These areas are also divided into wards. The representatives elected from the wards run it. It consists of a chairman and some members. The members and president are elected by the public.
